FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday May 27, 2013 –Two iconic V columns have arrived at V by Crown.
Parramatta locals may have noticed something new arrive in the centre of town on Saturday May 25: two large steel V structures – each standing thee storeys tall – were erected at V by Crown, on the corner of Marsden and Macquarie streets in Parramatta.
The iconic V structures contributed to the naming of the project and will be the most recognisable element of the 27-storey architecturally-designed building.
Four individual pieces of steel, each weighing 17 tonnes, were transported from a factory in Albury, NSW on two semi-trailers before being lifted on site by crane and manoeuvred into place by Crown Group’s on-site construction team.
Crown Group General Manager of Construction Gary Cory said the arrival of the Vs marked an important turning point in the project.
“There was definitely a feeling of anticipation when the trucks arrived with the steel columns on Saturday. The whole process went smoothly and the final result is a testament to the skilled hardworking team on site at V by Crown,” Mr Cory said.
“Before this there was very little construction above ground level, now it’s very satisfying to see the project progressing so well, you can’t miss the Vs there now, they are three storeys tall. It’s the most significant part of the project so far,” Mr Cory said.
“V by Crown construction is progressing smoothly and this is an exciting turning point in the project.”
The bases of the V structures arrived on May 18.
The columns will be filled with concrete this Saturday June 1, before the top sections of the columns arrive in early September.
Construction at V by Crown began in April 2012.
V by Crown was designed by Allen Jack + Cottier Architects and when complete, V by Crown will feature an open plaza at ground level.
Crown Group CEO Iwan Sunito said V by Crown sets a new benchmark in design and construction of residential apartments in Parramatta.
Mr Sunito said excellent transport links, high-quality schools, a wide-variety of entertainment options and proximity to Westmead Hospital and Westfield Parramatta were just some of the reasons Crown Group selected the thriving city for the new development.
“There is a great demand for high-quality residential apartments in the area from discerning buyers who are looking for nothing less than the best,” Mr Sunito said.
“V by Crown marks the coming together of decades of Crown Group expertise – the expertise that has catapulted the group to grow at phenomenal rate, to now over $2.5 billion worth of projects – combined with world-class architects,” Mr Sunito said.
V by Crown is expected to be complete in mid-2015.
When complete, V by Crown will be the tallest building in Parramatta.
