CROWN’S WATERFALL BOASTS GREEN WALLS, 12 NEW DINING, SHOPPING OUTLETS

WATERFALL BY CROWN BOASTS GREEN WALLS AND 12 NEW DINING AND SHOPPING OUTLETS – WHERE PETS BECOME THE STARS

20 JULY 2020 Waterloo’s newest residential development will soon have some paws appeal when it opens an innovative new retail precinct offering a cat café, a dog grooming salon and mix of dining outlets.

The $400 million residential project Waterfall by Crown Group opened earlier this year and residents of its 331 luxury apartments are already enjoying life amid one of Australia’s most ground-breaking designs for greenery in urban living.

At the heart of the development, designed by Adam Haddow of award-winning architects SJB, is a stunning new addition to the suburb – Australia’s tallest man-made waterfall amid gardens that are setting a new benchmark for biophilic design.

At 22 metres or seven storeys high, the waterfall adds a beautiful sense of tranquillity to the grounds. It was designed by Waterforms International’s Dirk Slotboom, famous for installations at Hobart’s MONA gallery, Canberra Airport, the new Australian embassy in Bangkok and even The Great Gatsby film set.

“This waterfall design is the first of its kind for a residential project in Australia and posed very complex design challenges in order to flow water from this impressive height in a high wind zone, with minimal noise and splash for residents,” Mr Slotboom said. “So we constructed a full-size prototype and a separate plant room, designed to recycle water and to ensure the plants in the green wall are kept alive. What’s more, we designed the waterfall during Australia’s worst recorded drought, in a way that allows the waterfall to stop and start according to wind and weather conditions.”

The lush green walls were created by Sydney’s living infrastructure specialists Junglefy and offer more than 5000 tropical plants surrounding the waterfall and rooftop cinema space, which offers sweeping views across Sydney and a 6m high green wall surrounding the cinema screen, for movie nights under the stars.

SJB Director Adam Haddow said, “This is simply a fantastic project – one that is rooted in place, celebrates the landscape setting, creates spaces and places for the new community to grow and delivers on our ambition of delivering architectural and city making excellence.”

Junglefy’s Founder and Managing Director Jock Gammon said, “This is a one-of-a-kind garden that seamlessly integrates plants within the fabric of the building. With cities becoming more urbanised, we design spaces that connect people with nature throughout their daily lives.

“At Waterfall by Crown Group the plants provide the opportunity for residents to escape busy city life to find serenity at home. The lush plants woven through the four adjacent waterfalls extend into the sky, to the top of the building façade.”

Crown Group Chairman and Group CEO Iwan Sunito said Waterfall by Crown Group was leading the urban greening revolution in Australia and would now break new ground with its retail offering. His vision is to build a $1 billion retail portfolio around the world.

“This new retail precinct will create a lot of excitement amongst residents of Waterfall and it will draw in people from the surrounding area, adding a sense of community and a unique offering,” Mr Sunito said.

“We have curated the retail mix to create a sense of community and 12 grocery, lifestyle and food and drink offerings including Moo Yoghurt, Just Fried Chicken and Eclat Patisserie and DJ Hair Artistry. Asian supermarket Parasol Tree is opened yesterday (16 July) and residents will be very excited when Baby Pet Studio for dogs and Yumiao the cat café open later this year.

“This will further increase the appeal of living at Waterfall for young professionals and families who love the quality of life here, being so close to the city and great schools and universities.”

Residents already have access to Crown Group’s signature resort-style facilities including an infinity edged rooftop pool and terrace, a cantilevered gym, rooftop outdoor cinema, function room with a catering kitchen and a music room with a grand piano. A children’s play area offers play equipment including a game of giant noughts and crosses.

All the apartments have generous balconies and are designed to be pet friendly. In addition, each of the garden apartments has direct access to the rope walk park, which makes it more appealing and convenient to people with pets and children to go out and play, close to home.

Waterfall by Crown Group offers a collection of premium apartments including studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, courtyard apartments and a double-storey penthouse. The interiors offer fresh, natural modern luxury, utilising stone, timber and subtle hues.

There are only a handful of apartments for sale, priced from $758,000 to $1,893,000 as well as a penthouse for $3.75 million.

The newly completed Waterfall by Crown Group display apartments are available for inspection, at 30-36 O’Dea Avenue, Waterloo, open daily 10am to 4pm or by appointment.
