(Sydney, Australia) Tuesday, February 24, 2015 – North Sydney’s apartment boom is more apparent than ever as an iconic building takes shape.

Signaling a new era in apartment living in North Sydney, Skye by Crown, a landmark development from Australian property developer Crown Group, has this week reached a turning point in construction after completion of its six-level, 204 car space basement excavation.

Designed by Koichi Takada Architects, the 20-storey building is set to become an iconic building in North Sydney featuring 242 apartments, a grand foyer, an infinity roof top pool, stunning views and a curved vertical ‘veil’ rising more than 60 metres high and enveloping the building’s exterior.

A ground-level pedestrian through-site link will provide a new public access between Pacific Highway and Angelo Street.

Crown Group General Manager of Construction Gary Cory said excavation completion marked a turning point in construction of the project, scheduled for completion next year.

When complete, Skye by Crown’s modern retail stores and cafes will become part of North Sydney’s thriving commercial community attracting residents, visitors and workers alike, he said.

“We’ve reached a significant milestone at Skye by Crown with the completion of the excavation of the six level basement carpark – and now we are on the way up!” Mr Cory said.

“Skye by Crown will provide North Sydney with a selection of modern retail stores and cafés and a new ground level pedestrian link between Pacific Highway and Angelo Street.

“This building will be home to hundreds of new residents.”

Skye by Crown would be a landmark development in North Sydney for decades to come, Mr Cory said.

“As construction progresses we’ll soon see Skye by Crown join the North Sydney skyline,” he added.

North Sydney Mayor Jilly Gibson, at an official ground breaking ceremony last year said Skye by Crown would add significantly to the area’s urban renewal, providing homes for hundreds of new North Sydney residents.

Close to shops, transport, top-ranked schools and within easy reach of Sydney’s CBD and major universities, Skye by Crown has proved exceptionally popular with buyers.

Crown Group Head of Major Projects, Sales and Marketing Roy Marcellus said Skye by Crown’s buyers were looking forward to seeing their newly finished homes.

“Skye by Crown has been incredibly well-received by the market and we are excited to mark this important milestone for Crown Group as excavation is complete at Skye by Crown,” Mr Marcellus said.

“Skye by Crown’s architectural elegance and close proximity to quality schools, shops and North Sydney train station continues to be popular with buyers.

“Our buyers are excited to see this project taking shape; they can’t wait to see the rooftop pool,” he said.

While more than 95 per cent of apartments were sold, a small selection of premium apartments were now available, Mr Marcellus added.

“But it’s not too late to own a home in this iconic development; a new selection of premium apartments are available offering amazing living and investment opportunities,” he said.

Skye by Crown retail suites offer an amazing opportunity for a businesses looking for a great location and a  modern fit out in an iconis building, Mr Marcellus added.

“Our clients are looking for more than just an apartment or retail tenancy, they want an experience of space and luxury throughout the whole building and Skye by Crown offers it all,” Mr Marcellus said.

“Skye by Crown will set a new benchmark in city living and offers a great investment opportunity for our buyers and retail tenants.”

More than $220 million worth of apartments at Skye by Crown have been sold since its launch, including a penthouses sold for $3.38 million and $3.465 million.

“Developments such as this cement North Sydney’s status as a growing commercial and residential district,” North Sydney Mayor Jilly Gibson said.

“Skye by Crown will be home to hundreds of new North Sydney residents and will provide new eateries and retail outlets when completed in 2016.

“Importantly, projects like this add to works already underway to make North Sydney a better place to live and work,” she said.

The building’s design captures views over North Sydney and Sydney’s CBD, one of many features which set it apart from other new developments in the area.

Limited selections of apartments are now selling including two-bedroom apartments from $1.245M and a three-bedroom penthouse for sale for $3.141M.

Skye by Crown is located at 211-223 Pacific Highway North Sydney, close to shops, transport and major employment hubs.
