(Sydney, Australia) Monday December 21, 2015 – A South Sydney shopping centre will soon have a new look after a change in ownership.
Eastlakes Shopping Centre, 10km from Sydney’s CBD on Evans Ave, has today become wholly owned by luxury Australian property developer Crown Group; after being jointly owned for a number of years.
Crown Group has commenced immediate renovations in time for the start of New Year, including painting of interiors and exteriors and installation of new signage.
Free WIFI will also be available at the centre before the New Year.
Additional improvements being considered for later in 2016 include new seating areas and improved flooring; adding a modern look to the long-serving local community shopping centre.
First opened in 1965, Eastlakes Shopping Centre is one of Sydney’s oldest shopping centres and is currently home to Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets, specialty produce stores, international cuisine, fashion outlets, hair and beauty services, medical services, restaurants and cafes.
Crown Group Chief Executive Iwan Sunito said the new painting and signage would give the centre a fresh look.
The shopping centre is located just 10 km from Sydney’s Central Business District and within 3 km of UNSW, Sydney Airport and Green Square.
“2016 will mark a new direction and approach for Eastlakes Shopping Centre and our tenants and local residents will see a big improvement as we bring Crown Group’s expertise into the centre,” Mr. Sunito said.
“We’d like to reinvigorate Eastlakes Shopping Centre into a more vibrant place; improving the look and feel for our loyal customers and surrounding community in time for the New Year,” he added.
Under new ownership, Eastlakes Shopping Centre will run a number of new advertising campaigns, competitions and promotions throughout the year.
“Eastlakes shopping centre has loyal customer base and has become a true retail and service hub for the local community,” Mr Sunito said
“We will increase the standard of client and customer service and communication with tenants and shop keepers.
“Eastlakes Shopping Centre is full of hidden gems and is renowned for its quality fresh fruit and food,” he said.
Crown Group plans to eventually redevelop the shopping centre; demolishing existing buildings to make way for a modern architecturally-designed mixed-use retail and residential project.
The design for the future mixed-use retail and residential project was awarded Best Concept Design by Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW in 2014 .
“However customers can still shop at Eastlakes Shopping Centre for a few more years while we finalise our design; set to make the centre Sydney’s newest place to meet!” Mr. Sunito said.
Eastlakes Shopping Centre management hopes to announce new tenants for a number of vacant stores in the coming months.
The first stage of renovation works – including painting and signage replacement will be complete by December 31, 2015.
Eastlakes Shopping Centre is open seven days a week, Monday – Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm. Aldi and Woolworths operate extended trading hours.
The Centre will be closed on Christmas and New Years Day.
