FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday August 30, 2013 – Crown Group CEO Iwan Sunito has been named among the winners at the prestigious 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
Iwan accepted the award for winner in the Industry category at the 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Eastern Region awards ceremony held at Sydney’s Carriage Works last night.
Ernst & Young Executive Director Bert Bardoel revealed the winners of the three categories in the highly-regarded awards.
Iwan said he was honoured to accept the award, after competing against an exceptionally high calibre of nominees.
“It’s a great honour to receive this award,” Iwan said.
”Our success did not happen overnight, it is the result of working hard and working smart, employing a great team, careful planning and a willingness to take risks,” he said.
“As many entrepreneurs would relate, it’s rare to find time to stop and reflect on how fortunate we have been to be able to grow our business to this scale and at this speed. In17 years the Crown Group has grown from humble beginnings to now developing a pipeline of projects worth $3 Billion,” Iwan added.
Iwan was among 16 of Australia’s best and brightest entrepreneurs nominated for the Eastern Region awards, including founder of Baseplan Software Brendan McAssey, founders of stylestalker Sue-Ann San and Rachel Zelic and founder of GMP Pharmaceuticals Karl Ye.
The judges made the following comments about their choice for the prestigious award: “Iwan has successfully differentiated Crown Group with its resort-feel apartment complexes. To do so competitively, Iwan has changed the property development business model. As a result, Crown Group is achieving excellent market share growth in this competitive industry.”
Iwan will now join winners from all five regions to compete in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year National awards in November.
Mr Sunito said this award came during Crown Group’s most successful year to date.
Crown Group recently took home two awards at The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW awards for excellence 2013, the best High-Density Development for its resort-style development Top Ryde City Living and best Concept Design for the Group’s joint venture with Prosha Pty Ltd, The Eastlakes Town Centre.
Earlier this year, Iwan was awarded Indonesia’s Property and Bank Magazine Golden Leadership Award 2013 and was a special guest at Indonesia’s Global Diaspora Event opened by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
“Our philosophy of ‘not big then better, but better first then bigger’ has proven to work and by continuing to constantly push the boundary of design, innovation and quality, the growth will come naturally,” Iwan said.
“I thank my team for helping to enable the phenomenal growth within Crown Group,” he said
“This year, I’ve felt honoured and humbled to accept a number of award s both personally and on behalf of Crown Group,” Iwan added.
Iwan attributes the extraordinary success of the company to Crown Group’s dedication to producing high-quality, yet-affordable apartments in carefully selected locations
“The approach within Crown is that ‘good’ is not good enough, we strive for great.”
“At Crown we pride ourselves on redefining the boundaries of design innovation of residential living,” Iwan added.
